TISSUE FILLERS, RESTYLANE, RESTYLANE FINE LINE, PERLANE

Restylane is a long-lasting and crystal-clear gel for filling out lips, facial wrinkles and facial folds. Thanks to Q-Med's stabilization process the hyaluronic acid in Restylane is almost identical to that naturally found in the body and only very slightly modified (0.5 - 1%).

Clinical studies show that Restylane can offer a high degree of patient satisfaction up to one year after treatment. Restylane smoothes wrinkles and enhances lips instantly. If you would like to get rid of wrinkles and folds or if you want to improve the image of your lips, there is a new answer to your needs. Restylane is an innovation based on non-animal hyaluronic acid, manufactured by a unique method in the Q-Med Laboratories in Sweden.

It is very important not to disturb the body's natural balance if you have an implant inserted. Restylane is naturally integrated into the tissue and allows for the free passage of important nutritive elements like oxygen and hormones. As cells are also able to pass between fragments of the gel, the result is healthy skin all the time Restylane is present in the body. Enjoy natural beauty for up to a year. How long the effect of Restylane treatment lasts varies with each individual. This depends on many factors, such as the structure of the skin, lifestyle and age as well as on the degree of perfection demanded by the individual. However, we know that for the majority of the patients treated, about 50-80% of the effect remains after 6 months. Most people choose to have a touchup done within a year of the original treatment. The great thing about Restylane is that you can replenish your natural beauty whenever you feel the need. A touchup can be performed any time you like after the previous treatment.

WHAT IS RESTYLANE?

Restylane is a gel that is injected into the skin in order to add volume to the lips and lift up wrinkles or folds.

WHAT IS HYALURONIC ACID?

Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance that is found throughout the body. It gives volume to the skin, lubricates the joints and gives the eye its shape.

Pure and safe products from Sweden

Q-Med Esthetics products contain the body's own natural material, hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is present in all living organisms. In the skin it creates volume, resulting in a healthy and vital appearence. Q-Med has invented a method for binding together the molecules (stabilization) in hyaluronic acid. In this way we can produce a unique and transparent gel called NASHA from natural hyaluronic acid.

NASHA stands for Non Animal Stabilized Hyaluronic Acid. NASHA is a safe implant for the body, and it is the base in all our products. Since our products are totally non-animal there is no risk of transmitting disease or eliciting allergic reactions if you are sensitive to common foods, such as beef, chicken and eggs.

HOW DOES RESTYLANE WORK?

Restylane adds volume to the skin. A physician injects small amounts of Restylane directly into the skin and it lifts up the wrinkle or gives more volume to the lips. Wrinkles can be raised to the level of the surrounding skin and the contours of the lips can be enhanced to the desired level.

WHAT KINDS OF WRINKLES CAN BE TREATED?

The most common areas are the glabellar lines (between the eyebrows), the nasolabial folds (from the wing of the nose to the angle of the mouth) and the lips, but other sites can also be treated.

Tissue Tailored Concept

Each of the three choices in the Q-Med Esthetics product range are specially designed for different purposes and effects, from eliminating tiny lines to enhancing facial contours and sculpting lips to perfection:

  1. RESTYLANE for wrinkle correction and lip enhancement
RESTYLANE Fine Lines for correcting thin superficial lines
PERLANE for shaping facial contours, correcting deep folds and for lip enhancement.

This is our “Tissue Tailored Concept” - where each product matches the tissue structure at various levels of skin depth. The difference between the products is the gel particle size. Your practitioner chooses the product, or a combination, that best matches the tissue structure for an optimal result.

WHAT RESULTS CAN BE OBTAINED FROM LIP TREATMENT?

The Vermilion Border (where the lip liner is applied) can be accentuated and the lips can be given more volume.

WHAT AREAS CAN NOT BE HELPED BY RESTYLANE?

Very deep wrinkles and some types of acne scars cannot usually be treated with this material. Also, very superficial wrinkles may be difficult to correct. Please consult our physician for an assessment.

WHAT IS TREATMENT WITH RESTYLANE LIKE?

Treatment with Restylane is a very easy and quick process. Since no pretest is needed, the treatment can be carried out immediately and takes about 30 minutes. The result is instant. Restylane is injected with a very thin needle into the skin.

CAN RESTYLANE REPLACE SURGICAL PROCEDURES?

No. People with excess facial skin or people who want a major resurfacing of the skin cannot be helped with Restylane. However, Restylane is sometimes used in conjunction with surgery to fill out wrinkles that cannot be removed by surgery.

DO THE INJECTIONS HURT?

This is very individual depending on how sensitive to pain you are. The injections may prick a little, but normally no anesthesia is needed for the treatment of wrinkles and folds. Most people report that the injections are relatively painless. Lip treatment is quite uncomfortable and therefore a nerve block or some similar anesthetic is normally used.

CAN THE MATERIAL BE REMOVED?

No, but since Restylane is a natural material it dissolves with time. If you feel insecure about the desired result, it is possible to have the treatment done in steps on different occasions.

IS IT SAFE?

The hyaluronic acid in Restylane is almost identical to that already present in the body. Also, since the hyaluronic acid in Restylane is not made from animals, there is no risk of transmitting diseases from animals or eliciting allergic reactions to common foodstuffs such as eggs, meat or chicken. Immediately after the treatment the treatment site can become slightly swollen and red. This is a normal result of the injection and generally goes away in a day or two after injection into the skin and within a week after injection into the lips. Other types of reactions are very uncommon, but about 1 in 2000 persons have experienced transient swelling, redness and tenderness at or near the treatment site(s) up to several weeks after treatment. If the inconvenience continues, please contact our physician.

DO I NEED TO DO A SKINTEST?

No, the results of several studies and experience from over 700,000 treatments indicates that a skintest is not necessary. After the injection some common injection-related reactions may occur, such as swelling, redness, pain, itching, discoloration and tenderness at the implant site. They typically resolve spontaneously within one to two days after injection into the skin. Other types of reactions are very rare, but about one in every 2,000 treated patients have experienced localized reactions thought to be of a hypersensitivity nature. These have usually consisted of swelling at the implant site, sometimes affecting the surrounding tissues. Redness, tenderness and rarely acne-like formations have also been reported. These reactions have either started a few days after injection or after a delay of two to four weeks and have generally been described as mild to moderate and self-limiting, with an average duration of two weeks.

CAN THE PRODUCTS BE USED IF I HAVE UNDERGONE A LASER TREATMENT OR CHEMICAL PEELING?

Yes, but it is recommended that you wait until the treated area is totally healed and the skin has normalized (normally 4 - 6 weeks).

CAN THE PRODUCTS BE USED DURING PREGNANCY OR LACTATION?

Treatment with RESTYLANE Fine Lines, RESTYLANE or PERLANE during pregnancy or lactation has not been tested for.

CAN PATIENTS WITH DIFFERNT KINDS OF ALLERGIES BE MORE SENSITIVE TO THE PRODUCTS?

So far we have seen no connection between patients with allergies and patients that report a reaction to RESTYLANE Fine Lines, RESTYLANE or PERLANE.

ARE THERE ANY OTHER TYPES OF REACTIONS THAT MAY OCCUR?

Yes. If you have previously suffered from facial cold sores, there is a risk that the needle punctures could contribute to another cold sore eruption. If you are using aspirin or any similar medication, you should be aware that these may increase the bruising and bleeding at the injection site. If you are able, to stop Aspirin and Vitamin E for 5 days before a procedure. If you have a history of cold sores, a perscription will be written for you to reduce the risk of eruption.

HOW LONG DOES THE EFFECT LAST?

Since Restylane is a substance very similar to your own skin, the same ongoing processes (such as aging) that change the structure of your skin will also alter the implant. Eventually the implant totally disappears from the body. How long the effect of Restylane treatment lasts is very individual. It depends on many factors, such as the structure of the skin, lifestyle and age as well as on the degree of perfection demanded by the individual. Most people choose to have a new treatment within a year after treatment of wrinkles and folds and after a lip treatment within half-a-year.

HOW LONG DOES THE EFFECT OF A TGREATMENT WITH A Q-MED ESTHETICS LAST?

Lines, wrinkles and folds: In general follow-up treatment is needed after 6-12 months.
Lips: In general follow-up treatment is needed after about 6 months. But it depends on many factors, such as the structure of the skin, lifestyle, age, the degree of perfection demanded by the patient and the injection technique of the practitioner. Clinical experience indicates that touch-up and follow-up treatment will add to the duration.

Natural beauty for as long as you like

How long a treatment holds its effect is very individual. This depends on many factors, such as your age, skin type, life style and muscle activity, as well as on the injection technique.

Q-Med Esthetics gel particles are absorbed so slowly that you have ample time for maintenance treatment. As the gel breaks down, water takes its place. The less concentrated the gel becomes, the more water it is able to bind. These facts are the main reasons that Q-Med Esthetic treatments last so long. When totally absorbed the gel disappears unnoticed from the body.

Most patients choose to have a follow-up treatment six to twelve months after an initial treatment of wrinkles or facial contouring. After lip treatments, a follow-up is normally needed after about six months.

WHAT WILL MY SKIN LOOK LIKE WITHOUT TOUCHUP TREATMENT?

The correction will gradually disappear until your skin looks just as it did before the treatment. Touchup injections will help you maintain your correction.

POST RESTYLANE TREATMENT

Peau Vive’s post Restylane or Perlane treatment protocol is designed to lessen the appearance of puffiness while nourishing and restoring a youthful, supple skin after these injections. Immediately after injection, there may be some transient swelling, and occasionally bruising. The concentrates from Peau Vive address both of these problems. Use of the Peau Vive's Eye Concentrate 407 on the lips and perioral area on a nightly basis is the first step. Nightly use of the Eye and Lip Contour Cream 307 is next. The ingredients of barley, yeast and horse chestnut increase drainage and assist in the removal of accumulated fluids from the tissue. Ingredients such as shea butter stimulate epidermal regeneration and lessen the appearance of lines and wrinkles. With use of these two products we find that the implant is maintained for a longer period of time.
