REMOVAL OF MOLES, AGE SPOTS and MINOR SKIN IRREGULARITIES
In order to remove unwanted tissue such as a mole,
the procedure in the past was to excise them with a scalpel and
reapproximate the skin with sutures. This would leave a scar that
was longer than the original blemish.
With our CO 2 lasers we are able to treat the offending tissue
without disrupting the surrounding area. The laser 'vaporizes '
only the unwanted tissue, (by heating the water in each cell)..
The tissue is thus removed with little scarring.
This procedure is far more precise than the use of liquid nitrogen
for the removal of rough patches of skin or sun spots (age spots,
liver spots, brown spots). This precision allows for removal of
these blemishes with greater effectiveness and less discomfort.
Skin tags are treated very quickly with these lasers as well.
Multiple tags can be done in a very short time with no bleeding.
The recovery time from one of these procedures is relatively
short. Depending on the size of the lesion healing can take place
in 3-7 days. We recommend that treated areas are kept covered with
antibiotic ointment during the recovery phase. After the area is
healed it may appear slightly pinkish for the next few weeks while
the process continues to completion.
Typically these procedures are painless. Occasionally local anesthesia
is required. Results are obtained instantly One treatment is required
in the majority of cases.
