How Does BOTOX® Work?
Wrinkles aren’t caused by aging alone; they’re the result of the strain that repeated muscle contractions and facial movements put on your skin. This is why younger people can also develop facial wrinkles.
BOTOX® is an injectable neuromodulator that smoothes fine lines and wrinkles by relaxing the muscles near them. It relaxes these muscles using a tiny, purified amount of botulinum toxin, derived from the bacteria Clostridium botulinum. Because BOTOX® can’t keep these muscles relaxed forever, periodic injections are required to maintain results.
BOTOX® injections are relatively painless, and typically take no more than 10 to 20 minutes to administer. And because there’s no downtime associated with BOTOX®, you could receive your injections during your break and go right back to work afterward — it is truly a lunchtime procedure.
