- What is a Dermal Filler?
A dermal filler is a substance that is injected into the skin to give it volume and definition while filling in wrinkles. It can also be used to add volume and softness to the lips. Dermal fillers are often made with a hyaluronic acid solution — Restylane is one of these dermal fillers.
- What Areas can Restylane Treat?
Restylane can be used to both correct moderate wrinkles and fine lines. It is particularly effective in treating the cheeks, midface, jowls, temples, jawlines, tear troughs and also other fine lines. Restylane can also be used to enhance the shape, texture, and fullness of the lips. Restylane Skin Boosters can be used on the neck and hands as well.
- What Should I Expect from my Treatment?
Restylane injections are fast — less than 30 minutes, relatively painless, and require absolutely no downtime. The effects of Restylane injections have been known to last up to a year, depending upon the area being treated.
- Are there any Side-Effects?
Most patients who receive Restylane don’t experience any side-effects. Minor bruising and swelling may occur, but this generally subsides a few days after your injection. If you experience any side effects worse than these, it’s important that you contact your doctor immediately.
- Am I a Good Candidate for Restylane?
Restylane is best suited to patients seeking to fill in moderate wrinkles and fine lines. If you have deep lines or severe wrinkles you would like to soften, Perlane would be more effective for meeting your cosmetic goals. During your consultation, your doctor will discuss your aesthetic goals and medical history, and take these into consideration when deciding what course of treatment is right for you.
If you’re interested in Restylane or one of our other dermal fillers, neuromodulators, or more invasive aesthetic treatments, contact us today. We look forward to hearing from you.
- When will I see results?
The results of this injectable filler can be seen immediately following an injection session, with final results being visible within a week of treatment.
- What can I expect during an injection session?
Restylane® will be injected into the designated treatment areas on the face, neck or hands using a fine needle or a cannula. This dermal filler is formulated with lidocaine to reduce any discomfort associated with the injections, and, at the patient’s request, an additional topical numbing cream can be applied prior to an injection session. Restylane® injections typically take approximately 30 minutes, though the length of an injection session can vary from patient to patient. This is a minimally-invasive aesthetic treatment and there is little to no downtime associated with it. Multiple treatment sessions may be required in order to achieve your desired results.
